Allergen Process

Committed To You

We're committed to providing delicious snacks that can be enjoyed by everyone. In order to provide a product that is allergen friendly we take extensive measures throughout our supply chain, consistent with Current Good Manufacturing Practices regulations, to avoid cross contamination and cross contact with the following Allergens; Gluten, Dairy, Soy, Grain, Wheat, and Eggs. We also have some select products that are free of nuts. See Nut Allergen section below. Some of the important allergen control measures we take are summarized on this page.

Pre-Production Process
(Sourcing and Storage)

Careful Sourcing and Documentation

Ingredient quality and supply chain transparency are our top priorities. We make sure to work as close to the source as we can to provide the highest level of transparency and quality.

We have implemented controls from purchasing to receiving to producing and all the way through to the process of shipping the finished product. We seal, label and store raw materials to prevent cross-contamination, and we use a color coded system for quick identification of allergen containing ingredients. All allergens are stored in designated area separated from non-allergen groups.

Production Process

Production Facility Cleansing

Although we process our products on shared equipment, we do a full allergen control cleanse before production, in accordance with FDA guidance on allergen preventive controls and the facility follows current Good Manufacturing Processes (cGMPs) to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

We use a number of tests to verify that our cleaning processes completely remove all previous residue when we change products/allergens. All product changeovers are documented and state what procedures were utilized in the event of an allergen clean. We have trained QA technicians who test and approve the line before any mixing, production or packaging may begin.

Post Production Testing

We send finished goods to a lab to test for the presence of allergens that we may not know are in the product. If such allergens are present in the finished goods we hold all of the inventory in that lot and do not offer it for sale. [The table sets forth the levels of allergens for which we test our products. If the results for a lot exceed those trace levels, we do not sell the lot.]

Nut Allergens

A few of our bars are nut allergen friendly and contain no nuts. When we produce these products we use the same allergen processes from above while also adding additional testing for Peanuts and Treenuts.

Allergen Progression

When we produce these flavors we clean and then test the line for peanuts and tree nut residue. If these allergens are present above trace levels we again clean then retest the line until the test comes back negative. The nuts and the threshold trace levels for these tests are in the table to the right.

When we produce our bars we first produce the top 8 allergen friendly flavors; Salted Chocolate Protein Bars, Chocolate Cherry Protein Bars, Apple Pie Kids Bars, Blueberry Blast Kids Bars, and Raspberry Kids Bars. We then produce the Coconut Protein bars so that we don't cross contaminate coconut with the previous five flavors. After all of these have been produced and moved to another facility for storage and testing we clean the facility and produce our Peanut Butter Flavors; Peanut Butter Protein Bars, Peanut Butter Kids' Bars, Peanut Butter and Jelly Kids Bars, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Kids' Bars.

We identify the presence of food allergen ingredients on our Product labels, in accordance with applicable federal law and regulations.
